Year 3 Trip to the Botanic Gardens
Year 3 had an exciting and very hot day at the University Of Leicester Botanic Gardens on Thursday. They went on numerous explorations to find out new things about different types of plants; they visited the woodlands and investigated the Giant Redwood tree and its bark, they planted their own cress seed, which we are now growing in school, explored different herbs and how they are used in medicine and food, visited the Cactus Glasshouse and found their favourite cactus and finally they ventured into the rainforest and found cotton plants, banana plants and Cocoa trees!! The children loved their day and learned lots!! This will really help to inspire them with this half-term’s Science topic all about plants.
