Monday- Multi-sport

 

Multi-sports is open to all year groups and gives the children the chance to take part in an array of different activities. A few examples of the activities that are on offer are football, table tennis and curling.

 

The benefits of multi-sports are that it gives children the chance to try a number of different activities, to mix with other individuals and to enhance communication and teamwork skills. Lastly, it gives older children the chance to develop leadership skills through working with the younger individuals within the group and passing on advice.

 

 

Tuesday – Gymnastics / Dance

 

Gymnastics/dance is open to all years. This group works bi-weekly, with dance being one week and gymnastics following. In gymnastics, the children work in a circuit type rotation using different climbing apparatus and several areas for the children to practice expressing themselves through body shapes that use 1-4 point balances. Within dance, the children will have a themed dance class based around different stimuli which gives them the chance to express themselves through different movements.

 

The benefits of gymnastics are that it can give children a chance to increase their confidence levels by using their bodies to express themselves. It allows the children a chance to mix with individuals from different year groups and encourages the participants to be positive role-models within the classroom.

 

 

Wednesday- Dodgeball

 

Dodgeball is open to KS2 students. Pupils compete against each other in a range of variations of dodgeball. This gives the children the chance to express themselves through physical activity and allowing the students independence through the opportunity they get to discuss and evaluate different tactics and strategies.

 

The benefits of dodgeball club are that it allows children to develop social skills , increases muscular endurance and strength and also allows children to develop leadership skills and confidence.

 

 

Thursday- KS1 Football

 

KS1 football allows the children the chance to express themselves through football whilst giving them the chance to learn other skills like mobility and balance awareness. The children will have the opportunity to compete in a range of different games which foster comfortability on the ball and gain confidence.

 

The benefits of football club are that it allows the children to mix with other individuals from different years, developing their people skills, mobility skills and balance. Lastly, confidence is built through repetition of performing a certain skill.

 

 

Friday- KS1 Dodgeball

 

KS1 dodgeball gives children the opportunity to take part and express themselves through the sport of dodgeball. The children are split into 4 teams and there is a tournament that is ran which gives a competitive feel. Attending this club allows the children to improve social skills and communication skills through the development of team tactics.

 

The benefits of the club are that it allows the children to gain confidence and will improve their mobility skills and balance. Lastly, the club encourages a development of tactics and gives children the chance to develop discipline.
