Ok today's challenge is to go on a minibeast hunt and / or to build a minibeast hotel (see pictures of larger scale examples of these at the bottom of this page).
The purpose with these challenges is to discuss minibeasts with your child. Talk about where you might find the most minibeasts and why, for example why do they hide under rocks and in the soil and why are they not just on the top of the grass? Why is each insect important and why should we look after them? It allows the children to look at the body parts of different insects and to learn their names, plus it's often a good challenge to help the children to concentrate, investigate and analyse!
