# Maths

Morning all,

Today for our 2D shape practise, I have a few odd one out questions for you and then a game at the end.

Here are the odd one out questions. When asking your child which one the odd one out is, encourage them to provide a reason and explain why using terminology including the shape names, 'straight', 'round', 'sides' and 'corners'.

Odd One Out Question 1:

(Answer: The diamond because it is the only one that is not a triangle and it is the only one with 4 sides)

Odd One Out Question 2:

(Answer: The square because it is the only square, all the rest are rectangles and it is the only one with equal sides)

Odd One Out Question 3:

(Answer: The triangle because it is the only one with 3 sides and 3 corners, all the other shapes have 4 sides and 4 corners)

Odd One Out Question 4:

(Answer: The circle because it is the only one with a round side, all the rest have straight sides and it is the only shape that doesn't have any corners)

Did you guess them right?
Now have a go at this game, it is a pattern game. When you are looking at the pattern, try to describe it using the shape names before selecting which shape comes next!

Have fun,
Miss Heafford
