Hi everyone,

This week in maths we are going to be focussing upon counting on and back when adding and subtracting numbers to 20.

Today's maths challenge has 2 parts:

Firstly please watch the below videos which involve counting to 20 and counting back from 20. If possible see if your child can remember how to count all the way to 20 and back on their own after watching the videos.

Secondly play a race to 20 game. For this you will need a dice, 2 counters and you need to make 2 number tracks (a track is just a plain piece of paper with the numbers 0-20 written in order). Both players start on 0 and take it in turns to roll the dice and move their counter along that many spaces. As you move on a certain number of spaces you can draw attention to what is happening each time. For example, "So I started on 2, I moved on 3 spaces so now I am on 5 because 2+3=5!". See if they are able to explain their turn in the same way.

Here is an example of what the number track looks like (we will try 0-20 on ours).

Have a lovely day everyone!
