Morning everyone!

For today's maths challenge you will need the number line that you made for yesterday's game. If you didn't play yesterday's game then please make a number line 0-20. 

To get our maths brains warmed up I would like you play "I count, you count". This is simply you count for a bit and then as soon as you stop counting, your child has to carry it on. As soon as they stop counting then you have to carry it on etc. Try to count to 20 during this game and play it a few times to allow them to contribute different numbers. It may sound like:

"1, 2, 3"        "4, 5, 6"          "7, 8, 9"         "10, 11. 12"          "13, 14, 15"         "16, 17, 18"          "19, 20"

So then the next round try to change it up and have the other person start and count for  different period of time:

"1"          "2, 3, 4, 5"          "6, 7, 8, 9"        "10"         "11, 12, 13, 14"          "15, 16, 17, 18"       "19"     "20"

Next I would like you to play the game we played yesterday again but this time focus upon using the language of addition during each turn.
For example: if your counter is on number 5 and you roll a 3 then say "I am on 5 and I am adding 3 more", move 3 places counting as you go "6, 7, 8" and then state what you have found out "so I did 5 add 3 and I got 8!"
This may take a bit of practise and a lot of you modelling how to do this and letting your child echo your turn before applying it to their own turn.
