Phonics
Happy Friday!
Today for phonics I have attached a rap that helps to recap the phase 2 tricky words. See if you can say the tricky word before the dinosaurs!

Here is another video (very quick) that looks at blending together words that contain the 'ar' digraph. Let your child watch it through once and then play it again asking them to join in with sound out each sound (or mute the video to see if they can do it completely independently)!
Can you write down some ar words (dark, shark, park, hard, part, star, car, farmer, sharp, start) and cut them up into individual sounds. That would look like:
d-ar-k
sh-ar-k
p-ar-k
h-ar-d
p-ar-t
s-t-ar
c-ar
f-ar-m-er
sh-ar-p
s-t-ar-t
Put all of the sounds out in front of your child and tell them one of the words. See if they can verbally segment the word and then find the sounds that they need to build the word back together.
Enjoy the weekend,
