Welcome
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very warm welcome to our wonderful school.
Richard Hill Church of England Primary School is in the centre of the pretty and friendly Leicestershire village of Thurcaston. We are privileged to have close links with our local parish church, making regular visits, and the Diocese of Leicester. We feel privileged to have a wide reaching catchment and to have families and children from a range of faiths and cultures.
Our school's Christian Ethos works hand in hand with our values, and we enjoy a network of church schools within our multi-academy trust, The Vines Multi Academy Trust. Our community is incredibly important to us and strong relationships which all underpin everything that we do. Our school staff are committed, enthusiastic and approachable. Our parents are very supportive, keen to help their children at home and ensure the children are ready to learn at school. We feel this partnership is vital to ensure that every child can be the very best they can be.
We currently have 6 classes. Some children are in mixed year group classes which is similar to other local schools. We have times where year groups are taught discreetly. Children at Richard Hill thrive in these mixed classes learning from each other and developing enhanced social skills by being with children that are different ages.
Core learning is the foundation to our curriculum so we place a high emphasis on this. Being confident in reading, writing and maths opens doors and gives your child access to wider opportunities. No matter what ability your child is working at, we ensure they have the right resources, the right level of challenge and the right support in order to develop an absolute love of learning.
We accept applications from all children aged 3-11 years. Our pre-school is unique as it is led by our Assistant headteacher who is a qualified teacher. Locally there are only nursery nurses leading preschool settings and this is what makes our pre-school not only a wonderful environment but having such a qualified adult means our children make unbelievable progress. We welcome pupils from our catchment area, Thurcaston and Cropston, and beyond for example Rothley, Mountsorrel, Anstey and Birstall. Many of our families have chosen us because our offer is unlike any other local school. The small, family, inclusive nature of our school makes it a special place to be.
I hope you enjoy exploring our website which gives you an overview of what makes Richard Hill an exceptional community to be a part of of but a brilliant place for children to flourish. We would love you to come and visit our school and I look forward to welcoming you.
